This is as good as it gets! Jurassic crab combo today and the fish were ready for battle. After we got our crab we ran out to the deep and started slaying the lingcod pretty much non-stop with BIG coppers, yellowtail and red pacific snapper mixed in. Came home with beautiful crab, rockfish (pacific snapper), and lingcod limits for five. Went big then went home. Great day!

Flat calm water again for Jurassic Park. Went to the crab pots farm and got our crabs then out to the deep. As soon as we dropped in our live bait it was fish on! Lingcod started biting good then everything simply shut down. Tried a bunch of different depths and couldn’t get a decent bite going. Great guys and a whole lot of fun.
November 11
Beautiful flat calm water today for our Jurassic Park trip and the fish were biting real good! Caught our live bait then limited out on lingcod. Stayed out deep for the rockfish and got some nice copper, green spot, yellow tail, brown pacific snapper. Then something BIG took a MEGA-Bait. After a lot of tug of war Richard pulled in a 100 pound soupfin shark. Awesome battle and awesome eating too!
November 9
The storm has finally moved out and the weather forecast for the next week at least is perfect for fishing and crabbing! We pulled a crab pot yesterday to check the quality and these crabs are BIG! Should be a great crabbing season. On a sad note, Commercial crabbing has been delayed until at least the beginning of December. Our prayers go out to all the commercial crab fishermen and fisherwomen hoping they get the green light to crab by December 1st. In the meantime recreational crabbing (MEGA-BITE is considered a recreation fishing vessel) is open and will remain open for the remainder of the year.
November 3
Local potluck today and the fish were a wee bit skittish due to the incoming storm this weekend. Took a while and a lot of traveling around to find willing fish. We found ’em! Came home with mixed limits of blue, olive, black and red pacific snapper.
October 31
Awesome day today in Jurassic Park. Beautiful water, little wind, and lots of action! Lingcod limits for six then headed to the rockcod grounds to top off the tank. Happy birthday John!!!

October 30 Morning trip
Awesome flat calm day for a local potluck trip. Got out to one of our lucky spots and it was pretty much a wide open bite with big olives and blues. Also nailed browns, canary and crab cod. Brought home eight limits of beautiful snapper and a very nice lingcod.
October 18
Jurassic Park run today and another wow! After catching our live bait we headed for the deep reef and as soon as we dropped in we hooked up with a lingcod. Then a few minutes later, all the rods lit up with lingcod. Now all four rods are hooked up and all four lingcod got boated. The biggest went 21 pounds! After we put seven lingcod in the boat we went closer to shore for limits, plus crew limits, of really big blue and olive pacific snapper What a day!
October 17
Now we’re talking! The swell has diminished and the fish were biting like crazy today. Big ones too! Came home with seven high quality limits of medium to big olive, blue, copper, and red pacific snapper. Must have thrown back 30+ smaller fish. Banner day!
October 15
Really nice weather for our local potluck trip today with air temps in the low 70s. We nailed limits plus crew limits of quality blue and olive pacific snapper. One short lingcod that went back to grow. Crab season starts in just a few weeks!
October 14
Awesome local potluck trip today with our friends from Kenny Rogers Plumbing. Had to move around a lot to get bigger fish and tossed back probably 50 smallies. Came home with limits plus crew limits of quality blue, olive, brown, and red pacific snapper.
October 11
Jurassic Park trip today and what a beautiful day with a whale show, sea lions circling the boat, overhead a plane doing acrobats, and some serious lingcod, petrale sole and rockfish catching. The lingcod bite was good! Caught our live bait then ran deep to pull up six lingcod to 15 pounds. Afterwards came in closer to shore for limits of blue, olive and china pacific snapper.
October 10 Afternoon trip
Wind picked up and the fishing went back to slow and small. Tried real hard to find willing fish but kept getting tiny rockfish. Worked all the way up and down the coast, worked shallow then deep water but just couldn’t’ get away from the smaller fish. Came home in the dark with 3/4 limits of small pacific snapper.
October 10 Morning trip
Our local potluck trip started out very slow with just a fish here and a fish there until slack tide (11am) then the bite took off! Limits for seven of nice quality blue, black, olive and china pacific snapper. Great group of guys from Modesto.
October 7
The fog and the winds have finally subsided and the fish were hungry! Ran out to our secret reef and immediately started hauling in blues and olives. Finished with early limits so came in closer to shore to give halibut a try.
October 4 Afternoon trip
Winds started up a bit and blew away the fog! We fished one of our local honey spots and we got into the rockfish bigtime! Lots of fun with a very beautiful family celebrating 70 year-old Al’s birthday. Great fishing and tons of laughs. Limits of quality pacific snapper.
October 4 Morning trip
Seas were a bit choppy and the fog was thick making fishing a little more difficult than usual. Our group trudged through it and were able to come home with some nice olive, blue, black and a couple BIG red pacific snapper.
October 2
Ran out to Jurassic Park”s deep reef today and the fishing was good for lingcod and big yellowtail. Especially considering the ground swell that came into town over a week ago. Once it’s gone fishing should go back to red hot!
September 27 Special Event
MEGA-BITE thanks the men and women of the Air National Guard today with a sunset cruise around the bay. These folks have been working non-stop to help our community with staffing food banks, fighting the CZU Complex Fire, staffing medical personnel at the SC Fairgrounds and more.
Thank you Air National Guard!
September 27
Big swell is still in town and it’s killing the bite. Not much fish to report today. Should clear up this week.
September 26 Afternoon trip
Local potluck trip and the weather and water were still confused from this morning. Tried fishing all the local reefs but couldn’t get but a few fish to bite. Came home with a handful of nice black and olive pacific snapper.
September 26 Morning trip
Jurassic Park trip was not your typical big game safari today. Mixed swell, deep swell, strong current and East wind really made catching difficult. Traveled more than 40 miles trying to get the fish to bite but just couldn’t beat Mother Nature at her own game.
September 25
Fished Jurassic Park for about an hour or so and when the wind came up we moved closer to shore. Big 12′ swell today and the wind wave was growing to 4′. Came closer to home and was able to work up a few limits of very nice black, blue, and olive pacific snapper.
September 20
Another great trip to Jurassic Park with our newlyweds Jen and Nathan. As soon as we dropped in the lingcod started biting. Charles landed the biggest at 18 lb with a lingcod in its belly! Lingcod are very territorial and aggressive! Don’t be a lingcod. In the picture Charles is 6ft 6in tall.
September 19 Afternoon trip
The weather got big this afternoon and our fearless family took on the challenge without hesitation. The water was bigger than usual this afternoon. “The bigger the water the bigger the fish” and 13 year-old Gabe from Pleasanton proved it when he landed two lingcod at the same time on one hook! A smaller blue lingcod took the first bite then an 18 pound monster ate the blue lingcod! Good job Gabe! The fish were thick and coming over the rail non-stop for brief periods. Ended up with six limits of big olive, blue, black, canary and 13 big vermillion for a total of 62 fish. Awesome.
