The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!

Jurassic Park was awesome today. First drop we landed three lingcod. Another five drifts and lingcod limits! Came in closer to shore for our pacific snapper. Great haul guys!

Local potluck trip today and the seas were flat calm and zero wind. Pretty much a steady pick of quality olive, blue and brown pacific snapper for limits. Lingcod showed up too!

Jurassic park with two soon to be married couples! Great energy today and very refreshing considering all the not so cool stuff going on in the world these days. Caught our live bait and headed for lingcod. As soon as we dropped in, Charles hooked his first lingcod then bride Jen brought up a monster followed by Mason with a deep blue lingcod. Boccaccio we’re all over us (trash fish full of worms) so we moved to get busy with rockfish. It was game on again with big blues and olives coming over the rail. It was wild and we’re doing it again next week after couple #1 ties the knot. Great time!

Still thick fog with no smoke and a cool 63 degrees. Fish were finicky at first then it went to a Wide-Open-Bite. Fish were virtually jumping in the boat! Limits for all plus of olive, blue, black, canary and red pacific snapper. Happy campers!

Pea soup fog this morning with clean fresh air for our local potluck trip. Ran up the coast a ways and as soon as we dropped in it was Fish On! We kept hammering the fish until we got limits for six of blue, black, olive, canary, brown and red pacific snapper. Good job 12 year-old Aiden and great job Grandpa, but Grandma hauled in most of the fish!

Local potluck today in the hazing morning skies. We pray that everyone stays safe through these fires. Tried fishing close to home but the fish were slow to bite. Ran up the coast a ways and it was Fish On! Nailed limits for all plus crew limits of quality olive, blue, black, canary, and red pacific snapper.

Ran out and caught our live bait then headed for Jurassic Park. Immediately started boating the lingcod. Crazy wide open bite. Got limits for everyone and a crew limit. WOW. Then off to get the snapper and we hit a pile of hungry olive, black, blue, and canary pacific snapper for limits for all plus crew fish. Gramps had the biggest lingcod.

Flat calm water for our MEAT RUN (tuna and Jurassic Park) trip today and a nice 65 degrees. Our group from Sacramento wanted to escape the forecasted 109 temps for the day. Caught our live bait then headed out for lingcod and wham! Limited out on lingcod then off to the tuna grounds. Trolled around for hours but no tuna takers today. Came back in for rockfish and limited out again! Long day with limits of lingcod and pacific snapper.

Great weather today for our Jurassic trip. After catching our bait ran out deep and immediately started hauling in the lingcod. Wind picked up so we came in closer to shore for the rockfish and slayed em! Limits for all! Ceviche and fish tacos tonight. Happy birthday Kelsey!

Jurassic Park today and WOW! Limited out on lingcod within an hour plus crew limits of lingcod. Using live bait sure does make a difference. After crushing the lingcod we set out for rockfish and nailed limits of BIG canary, BIG yellowtail, brown, and green spot pacific snapper. Water was flat calm and a cool 65 air temp.

Tuna and Jurassic Park combo trip today and what a day it was. Started out with Jurassic Park and worked up lingcod for everyone and 3/4 limits of some big yellowtail, canary, red pacific snapper. Then headed out to the tuna grounds for about 30 miles of trolling. Tuna were a no show today.

Nice water in the morning as we headed offshore to search for tuna. Found clear water, whales jumping all around, birds and dolphins and all the right signs but no tuna. After trolling most of the morning with no tuna bites decided to switch over to Jurassic Park and it was game on! Our highliner was 14 year-old Alex (a.k.a. One-Shot) from Redwood City with three lingcod and an assortment of BIG rockfish. Came home with five lingcod and a couple dozen canary, yellowtail, brown and red pacific snapper.

Water was still flat and calm and a low pressure system was coming in. The fish that were active in the morning weren’t so active due to the incoming low pressure. Our group toughed it out though and managed more than half limits of black, blue, canary, olive, brown and red pacific snapper.

Flat calm water and the fish were hungry! Nailed limits plus crew limits of quality snapper including 15 reds and a nice lingcod. Great fishing.

Headed out for an afternoon potluck trip with a bit of a 65 degree sea breeze for our friends from Reno where it was 100 degrees. The fishing was off the hook! Limits plus of olive, blue, black, brown, canary and red pacific snapper. Fun! Ceviche and tacos tonight.

Another great day for local potluck fishing and the fish really cooperated! Came home with lingcod and limits plus crew limits of brown, canary, olive, blue, widow and red pacific snapper. 15 year-old Kieran shows off his first ever lingcod with Grandpa. When he was 13 he got to watch his dad bring in a ling. Now it’s Kieran’s turn. Good job.

Awesome day today fishing with my good friends Holly, Becky, Royce and Rex for another trip to Jurassic Park. After making bait (catching live bait) headed out to the fishing grounds. A bit bumpy today but that didn’t deter our crew one iota. As soon as we dropped in we had fish on! Lingcod were biting like crazy! Only needed eight for limits and came home with nine lings (one for the captain!) to 16 pounds. And a couple were aqua blue. Topped it off with some snapper and we had us one heck of a day!

Beautiful day on the bay with a slight breeze, 65 degree air temp and flat as a pancake water. And! The fish were biting! Nailed six nice lingcod then got into some good action of blue, olive, canary, brown and red pacific snapper. 12yo Brian got his first ever lingcod today.

Great Our group from Sacramento escaped the 107 temps today to try a shot at lingcod. 69 degree breeze all day and limits of lingcod for all six plus crew lingcod. Jurassic Park is on fire!

Very flat water today and fishing was great! Got into the rockfish right away and boated lingcod and limits, plus crew limits, of BIG yellowtail, canary, green spot, brown, copper and red pacific snapper to six pounds! Happy 50th Greg!

Ran out to our Jurassic Reef in flat-as-a-pancake water and no wind. As soon as we dropped in the BIG fish started to bite. We nailed ’em good today with seven lingcod to 12 pounds, 30 snapper to six pounds and petrale sole. Awesome day today!

Still flat calm water and the fog is gone! Stayed close to home and were able to get the fish on a wild bite. Fish were bigger and we didn’t have to search much for limits of BIG blue, olive, black & yellow, and red pacific snapper and two BIG lingcod. What a difference a few hours makes. Great trip.

Headed out for a local potluck trip in pea soup fog. Fish were being slow to bite but our group persisted and after a lot of moving the boat around were able to get limits for six plus crew limits of blue, olive, canary, brown and red pacific snapper.

Flat as a pancake water today for our long range trip. As soon as we dropped in we started landing fish. Hooked into quite a few fish and headed home with our limits of lingcod and 75 pounds of quality canary, yellowtail, copper and pacific red snapper. Awesome fishing today.

Really nice flat calm day for our Jurassic trip. Took a while to get to our spot but when we finally did it was a wide-open bite. The kids (8 and 11 years-old) had non-stop doubles of big blues mixed in with olive, copper, canary and red pacific snapper for six limits! Add lingcod and halibut from mom and dad and we had one fantastic day!

What a trip! Limits for all including ten big red pacific snapper to six pounds.

Awesome weather for our folks from Fresno. Got a nice 70s seabreeze to help them forget the 100+ temps back home. Ran back out to our local fishing grounds and the fish were happy to see us.They literally jumped in the boat! Limits for all!

Very nice day for our local potluck fishing trip and the fish we’re biting! Came home with limits for all.

Forecasted high winds offshore so opted for halibut fishing. After catching squid for bait headed a little south for the halibut grounds. Whamm! Lots of halibut bites. Came home with halibut limits plus crew fish and a couple starry flounders.

Real nice weather for our local potluck trip. We nailed the snapper for eight limits of taco and ceviche meat. Fun fun group.
