July 10 – Afternoon trip
Winds still whipped up for our afternoon local potluck but that didn’t deter our group from Modesto where it was 100 degrees today. We fished close to port and we nailed ’em good! Happy Birthday Ed. It was a cool 63 degrees.
July 10 – Morning trip
Pretty wild ride out to Jurassic grounds today. Winds were not exactly what the weatherman forecasted. Our group stayed tough and we had to really fish hard in big water and wind to get fish today.
July 6
Great fishing today with lingcod and lots of olive, blue, brown, canary and red pacific snapper. Fun!
July 5
Nice run up the coast for Jurassic fishing. Very nice quality rockfish but with the south swell in town the lingcod bite wasn’t happening.
July 4
Happy 4th of July! Our Jurassic Park trip was awesome. Non stop action of big, and some medium sized fish. Biggest Ling was 16 pounds and caught by 8 year-old Ethan from the east bay. Dad came in second with a 13 pounder. Great trip!!! In case anyone’s interested in salmon… salmon is slow. Most boats 0 to one fish.
July 3
Run for salmon today but the salmon had a different plan. Tried all day and finally found one 20+ pound slug to bring home. Perfect water and weather.
July 2
Awesome water day again as we headed out to Jurassic Park for bigs. As soon as we dropped in we’re hooked up lingcod. Got a couple lings then we hooked into a five-foot Wolf Eel. This is the second Wolf Eel in 15 years! Not pretty but they’re good eating. Got a few more big rockfish then headed closer to shore for rockfish. Lots of fun and lots of action.
July 1
Out for salmon today with perfect weather and water conditions. We found ’em! Nice fat salmon and they’re still close to Santa Cruz.

June 25
Local potluck trip today and the fishing was red hot! Almost too much fish.
June 20 afternoon trip
Great weather for our local potluck trip on Father’s Day. Dad Jeff and his two, rather competitive offspring, rolled up their sleeves and went to work. After finishing up with lingcod and pacific snapper we came into the halibut grounds to top off the fish box with a nice hali. Parker wins with the trifecta of snapper, lingcod and halibut. Hunter gets the biggest smile and champion photographer award. Dad, well he gets to enjoy the non-stop fun, laughter and a Father’s Day gift he’ll never forget.
June 20 morning trip
