Flattest water of the year and a perfect 72 degree breeze. And… the salmon are here! We hooked into eight but only got three in the boat. Looks like salmon may be around for a while.

Great trip today for our party of six. Salmon was a long shot so we opted for Deep Reef and the fish were biting! After a couple hours moved closer to shore and again it was game on. Came home with 120 pounds of quality lingcod, canary, copper, green spot, brown and red pacific snapper. Party tonight!
June 5
Salmon fishing was picking up for the commercial boats so we decided to give it a try. We trolled around for a couple hours and finally found fish! Not many salmon being caught today but we did get our biggest of the year.
June 2
Gorgeous day today for our run out to Jurassic Park. We stopped off to pick up some sand dabs for live bait then headed over to the deep reef. The fish were a little slower to bite but our group kept at it and were rewarded with lingcod and limits of canary, greenspot, brown, and red pacific snapper to seven pounds. Great weather all day.
June 1
Beautiful day on the Bay today with no wind and flat calm seas. Ran out to our lucky rockcod spot and it was just like the past few days of fishing… GREAT! Fish were coming over the rail non-stop. Came home with quality blue, olive and red pacific snapper.
May 31
Salmon slow so went for rockfish. Good thing too because not many salmon are being caught commercially. Started out with a slow bite then WHAM! It was game on. We nailed the red, blues and olives pacific snapper (rockfish) today. Caught well over a hundred fish and kept the best 70. Big smiles for everyone!
May 30
Salmon are still hard to find so we opted to go for the sure thing and fish locally for snapper. And we did GREAT! Caught a lot of fish today and some really nice two pound blues and five pound reds for a total count of 80 fish.
May 29
Tried for salmon for a couple hours but no takers. Switched over to rockcod and it was game on. Well over a 100 fish caught but kept only 75. Fun day and nice water.
May 25
Had some wind, swell and wind waves to contend with but our crew stuck to it and got rewarded with nice salmon. Weather is supposed to improve starting Monday.
May 24
Fished for a few hours in the deep and got four lingcod and some rockcod but we got antsy and with all the commercial boats trolling by us we decided to switch to salmon. As soon as we dropped we’re hooked up. Made one long turn and brought home two beautiful salmon with all the lingcod and rockcod. Very good fishing day.
May 23
Commercial salmon fishing today and the fish are still here. Found fish just five miles from port.
May 20
Commercial salmon fishing today and fishing was very good. Found fish closer to port and the fish were big!
May 18
Hooked 14 salmon and brought home 11 and sealions took home three. Great day today with flat calm water until about noon then we decided to head back in. These are much bigger than the schoolie fish we had for the previous four weeks. High quality and fat fish.
May 12
Ran out to Deep Reef (Jurassic) rather than salmon and the fish were hungry! Fish coming over the rail non-stop until we hit 160 pounds of lingcod (biggest 17 pounds), and copper, green spot, canary and red pacific snapper.
May 11
Wow. Decided to switch over to Jurassic Park and what a day we had! Limits of lingcod, petrale sole, wolf eel!, and limits of canary, copper and red pacific snapper to 7 pounds. Came home with a good 80 pounds of fish. Great day. Perfect weather.
May 10
Lot of fun at Jurassic catch and releasing lingcod. Switched over to salmon and brought home salmon too! Still to soon to react to the bluefin bite. The fish are skittish and maybe a dozen have been landed in a week out of Monterey Bay.
May 9
Since salmon has been slow so we decided to switch to Jurassic Park and what a great day we had with lingcod limits for all plus 100 pounds of snapper!
May 6
We decided to fish Jurassic Park and listen on the radio for salmon news. Good move, we loaded up with over 150 pounds of lingcod and snapper. Perfect day.
May 5
Flat calm water and perfect weather for our salmon trip. Drove around for a couple hours then switched over to lingcod and rockcod. Brought home two lings to 11 pounds and canary, green spot and brown snapper.
May 4
Perfect day on the water but the salmon are still hard to get to bite. We have a new low front in and believe that’s the cause. On the upside, bluefin tuna are here in Monterey Bay! If the tuna stick around for a couple days we will start our tuna runs.
May 3
Perfect weather today but the fish were not cooperating, Lost at least five salmon today and came home with one. Keep the tip up and tight lines!
May 2
Very nice water today with small seas and little breeze. Lots of commercial boats in our fishing area today and the bite was slower than usual but we still got six hookups, lost one to a sealion, two came unbuttoned and three came home with the group.
May 1
Tyler and I went commercial salmon fishing today and we got ’em good! We will be fishing commercial occasionally and will have salmon for sale at the dock. Shoot me your name and phone number if you want to pick up fresh salmon the day we fish. We have to unload the fish before the next day charter. Because it’s commercial caught we are not permitted to cut/filet the fish. You can only buy a whole fish.
April 30
Flat calm water again today and the fish are still here! Hooked into ten salmon and brought home five. Great time!
April 29
With the low pressure for the past couple days the salmon have been tough to find and get them to bite. We got lucky today and hooked into six and brought home four nice salmon. The low is supposed to be gone after tomorrow so salmon fishing should pick up.
April 28
Salmon catching has slowed down even more than yesterday. Hopefully things go back to catching limits tomorrow.
April 27
Fish were active again today but just couldn’t get them all in the boat. Hooked into 11 brought home five. Perfect weather again.
April 26
Salmon limits again on the MEGA-BITE. Wow, doesn’t get any better than this. In fact, salmon catching hasn’t been this good in over twenty years. Limits for our party of six today plus crew limits. 16 nice salmon to 13 pounds and the boat got back to the dock early! We will be running two salmon trips a day on weekends starting May 4th and will continue for the foreseeable future.
April 25
*Perfect weather with flat seas. Salmon bite is going off the hook and and limits are the norm! Jurassic Park trips are producing limits of Lingcod and some big Pacific Snapper! Don’t know how long the weather and the salmon will stay so if you want to get in some great fishing now’s the time to book your trip! We are booking for three boats now.*
April 24
(RAYBERT) Took the Raybert out for a salmon setup shakedown and it was wild! Limited out on salmon in about an hour and a half. Lot of whales to watch too. RAYBERT is now ready for salmon service! Good job Captain Ray getting the boat ready for the salmon season.
