What a difference a day makes! We set out again for a local potluck trip and things went a lot better than yesterday. We managed to pick up some live bait then after motoring to out lucky spot dropped in for lingcod and rockcod. Immediately we started catching rockcod and lings. Came home with a nice cooler of lingcod and rockcod. Water is getting calmer after the storm and things should be picking up even more this week.
May 5
Our first trip out this season for local potluck. With the storm that just passed, winds were big and seas were uncomfortable. Our group worked real hard to get the fish to bite and were able to get a few lingcod and rockcod. Kept two of the lings and the rockcod. Hats off to our active duty Coast Guard AH64 mechanic, Alexa, for landing a beautiful dark blue lingcod. Don’t get to see these very often.

Out to the deep again for lingcod and rockcod. Water wasn’t very nice so it was a bumpy day. Got to the lingcod grounds and the mackerel have taken over the area. Mackerel went for miles and the lingcod weren’t interested in what we had to offer so we headed up the coast for rockcod. Found the chili peppers and green spots and a fat red and petrale sole!
