Fishing is awesome now for Jurassic Park with BIG rockfish. We also are catching Bonito on our trips. The Bluefin started showing up closer to Santa Cruz. One boat yesterday got three bluefin just six miles out of Santa Cruz. The El Nino has finally come to town and is bringing bluefin and Bonito up with it. We have caught Bonito in our last three trips to Jurassic Park. We think we had a Bluefin hookup on our way to Jurassic Park… pulled the hook.

Glassy water and it was GAME ON from the first drop! Two fearless sisters, ages 9 and 10, cranked up most of the fish from 300 feet deep while Mom and Dad filmed every epic moment. Mom stole the show with a monster 6-lb Copper, and Dad coached the crew to full limits of BIG rockcod. Then we trolled out and back and smoked eight Bonito!

Jurassic Park delivered today! Steve and his 12-year-old son August joined Brad and Thomas for a beautiful day of deep sea fishing aboard MEGA-BITE. Perfect weather, calm water, and limits of big rockcod—with some bonito thrown in as a special treat!

Another run up the coast to one of our favorite Jurassic Park spots. It went as good as it gets! We whacked big fish with yellowtail and canary rockcod to over four pounds! A lot of whale action today and the weather was 70 degrees. Perfect.

Sorry for the lack of fish reports lately. We have been commercial fishing for rockcod, lingcod and bonito. We will resume charter fishing this coming weekend. We have great weather this week. Lingcod, Rockcod, and Pacific Bonito are biting real good now.

Ran out to the deep for a Jurassic Park trip today. We had a little wind and a little bump on the water. Fishing started out pretty slow, but things picked up as the day went on. Ended up with quite the variety — 13 different species of fish today! A good mixed bag from the deep!

A special trip aboard MEGA-BITE today! Deckhand Keegan brought his family along for a run out to Jurassic Park, and they had a great day on the water.
The fish cooperated, with a nice variety of quality rockcod coming over the rail along with a good lingcod to top things off. Plenty of bent rods, smiles, and a whole lot of fun!
Keegan spends a lot of days helping everyone else catch fish, so it was especially nice seeing him get to enjoy a day at Jurassic Park with his own family.

A great day on Monterey Bay for a family local cod trip! The water was nice and flat, the fog stayed away, and the fish were biting. We got into a great mix of blues, olives, reds, and canaries.
But the star of the day was six-year-old Brooks, who earned *highliner honors* by catching the most fish! Way to go, Brooks!

A little bit of a bumpy ride up the coast to our fishing grounds today. The fish made us work for it at first, but once they decided to bite—they BIT!
Unfortunately, we had to cut the trip short due to technical reasons, but that didn’t stop this crew from putting together a great haul of quality rockcod and lingcod!
Short trip, full fish box, happy crew. Not a bad day on Monterey Bay!

**Howdy, everyone!**
You may be wondering why the fishing reports have been a little quiet lately. Well, Keegan and I traded charter fishing for some **commercial cod fishing** for a while—and let me tell you, it’s been an adventure!
The fishing has been good and we’ve had a blast, but commercial fishing is **HARD WORK!** Long days, lots of fish, and plenty of sore muscles by the time we hit the dock.
Keegan is taking a well-earned vacation right now, and when he gets back, **MEGA-BITE is firing back up and we’re back to running charters!**
We’re rested, recharged, and ready to get back out there with all of you. **Time to go fishing! ** Stay tuned for the upcoming newsletter. Some great news too.

*Look who’s back! Hook and Grandpa Tom!*
Eleven-year-old Hook and Grandpa Tom were back aboard the MEGA-BITE today for another run out to Jurassic Park. The seas were a little mixed up and it wasn’t exactly a comfortable ride, but boy did the fishing make up for it! This turned into one of our most productive trips to the deep all season.
These two have been fishing with us since Hook was just six years old, and we’ve had a lot of fun watching this kid grow up with a fishing rod in his hands. And calling Hook an “11-year-old fisherman” really doesn’t tell the story. This kid has already had fishing adventures most of us can only dream about!
His latest trip was to Costa Rica, where he battled and landed a *450-pound marlin!* He’s also earned *Grander status multiple times.* Not too shabby for an 11-year-old!
Hook definitely knows his way around a fishing rod, and Grandpa Tom isn’t too shabby either. 😁 Always a great time having these two back aboard. Lots of fish, lots of laughs, and another Jurassic Park trip for the books!

Another banner day of Jurassic Park fishing! The seas were absolutely perfect, but the wildlife show was just as exciting as the fishing! The ocean was alive everywhere we looked—a mako shark came flying out of the water and danced across the surface, while bonito tore through bait and birds dive-bombed the water all around us. It was one of those days when you didn’t know where to look next!
And below the surface, the action was just as wild. Rockcod were flying over the rail in doubles, with big yellowtail and a great mix of quality rockcod keeping everyone busy nonstop. Six limits in the box and an incredible show from Mother Nature made this another unforgettable day at Jurassic Park!

September 5
Another awesome day out at Jurassic Park! As soon as we dropped our lines, the bite was on—and the fish were enormous. We had some great fishing until the current picked up around 11am, so we moved nearshore and finished catching our six limits of rockcod.
Limits of quality reds, blues, canary and yellowtail rockcod, then James topped off with a big 16-pound lingcod! Great day on the water and a boatload of quality fish!

August 30
Out for a midday local rockcod trip in some windy conditions. We bounced around to a few spots and found some good fishing along the way. We finished up with about 3/4 limits of nice quality rockcod and plenty of smiles. Great crew and a fun afternoon!
August 29 – afternoon trip
Back out this afternoon for a rockcod trip, and the wind definitely made us work for it! It got pretty wild out there, but once we found the fish, we got them biting good. Lots of blues, blacks, and reds coming over the rail—and plenty of big smiles to go with them! Great job by the crew sticking with it in some sporty conditions!
August 29 – morning trip
Headed out for a halibut trip this morning with calm seas and plenty of fog. We gave the halibut a solid shot for a couple of hours, but the small, pesky kingfish just wouldn’t leave our bait alone. The crew finally decided enough was enough, so we changed gears and headed for rockcod territory to put some meat in the boat. That move paid off BIG TIME! We got into the rockfish and turned what started as a frustrating morning into a great day of fishing and a box full of fish!

Out for a Jurassic Park run today, and the fish were on! We got into the blues, reds, and yellowtail rockfish big time, with plenty of action to keep everyone busy. Topped it off with a really nice lingcod! Another great day at Jurassic Park!

We tried to head out to the deep for our Jurassic Park trip today, but the wind was already blowing pretty good and was only going to get worse. We made the call to turn around and head back to some of our local fishing grounds—and it turned out to be a great move!
We whacked the yellowtail, blues, and reds, with plenty of action to keep everyone busy. Sometimes Plan B works out just fine! Another great day of catching aboard the MEGA-BITE!

Out to the deep for another Jurassic Park adventure! The water was a little bigger today and we had some wind to contend with, but that sure didn’t keep the fish from biting.
We whacked the reds, chili peppers, yellowtail, and about five other species of rockcod, putting together full limits for the crew. Lots of action and plenty of quality fish coming over the rail.

A wonderful day out at Jurassic Park today. The chili pepper rockcod we’re biting like crazy. Came home with limits of big rockcod and a nice blue lingcod.

Another beautiful day running out to the deep water, and the fish were ready to cooperate! We had a great group aboard MEGA-BITE today and put together an excellent mixed bag of quality rockfish and lingcod. Lots of beautiful reds and other rockfish coming over the rail, topped off by a *BIG 25 pound lingcod* that definitely made the trip!
The ocean was gorgeous, the whales were active, the fishing was excellent, and there were plenty of smiles to go around. Always fun seeing families out there enjoying a day on Monterey Bay together.

What an honor to fish Jurassic Park in the deep with a Purple Heart recipient “Doc”. Doc has quite the history from his Vietnam War tours. He is a brave man and a true hero to us all. So we headed out to the deep with a family of teachers and caught some fantastic big red, canary, yellowtail rockcod. Everyone limited out, and we shared great laughs and stories. See you all again next year.

Started out as a halibut trip in perfect water conditions. Tried for an hour and only one short halibut so we ran out to Jurassic Park for some big yellowtail rockcod. When we got there it was nothing but busy busy hauling in limits of nice yellowtail, canary, brown rockcod.

Absolutely gorgeous day for our local rockcod trip! The water was flat calm and the ocean looked like a pancake.
We ran a few miles up the coast, dropped in, and found some fantastic action. It was pretty much nonstop, with fish coming over the rail one after another—and doubles were common!
The 5- and 8-year-olds did most of the fish finding, Mom landed the biggest fish, and Dad caught the most. Everybody got in on the action!
Beautiful weather, great fishing, and a whole lot of smiles.

August 7 – afternoon trip
Out for an afternoon of local cod fishing. Wind was blowing pretty hard which made fishing a wee bit uncomfortable and the fish bite was slow. We tried a few areas until we settled in at the Bolina Arena. We caught some nice brown, blue, black rockcod, along with a nice lingcod. We came in an hour early. Fun family trip.
August 7 – morning trip
We had a beautiful day on the bay for our Jurassic Park trip yesterday morning with a great group who wanted to try ocean fishing for the first time. The trip did not disappoint! The fishing was excellent; fish came over the rail non-stop. We caught limits of yellowtail, canary, chili pepper, and red rockcod all morning long. The group is now officially hooked on ocean fishing.

Great local cod trip for our family of four. Water was flat calm and made for some comfy fishing. Had early limits of olive, yellowtail, blacks, blues and red rockcod.
August 2 – afternoon trip
Now that summer is in full swing, the afternoon weather has been outstanding! We headed out to the local rockfish grounds and found plenty of hungry blues, blacks, and olives waiting for us. You couldn’t ask for better conditions or a better afternoon bite. To top it all off, we boated a beautiful 16-pound lingcod for the grand finale. Awesome day on the water!
