Yesterday was our last charter until April 1st. What a year we had. A lot of challenges but also a lot of fun when we did get to fish. Thanks to all of our Customers for your support this year. You really helped us keep afloat! See you all next year! Happy New Year!
December 30
Perfect clear weather for today’s combo trip. Ran out to the crab grounds and got some really nice crab then headed closer to shore for rockfish. Probably a combination of the big swell, full moon, cold water and who knows what else, but the fish had lockjaw.
December 29
Gorgeous day for our crab combo. Ran out to the crab grounds and got some nice crab to 3 pounds. Then headed in closer for the rockcod fishing. With the big swell still in town, as expected it was a slow but steady pick. Fun day!
December 27
Weather man missed this one. Supposed to be a nice day but the swell was bigger than forecasted. Still got some crab and fish but it wasn’t easy. But it sure was fun!
December 20
Big swell in town again so the bite was slow. Crab pirates have been out in full force but we were able to get a few limits of big crab. Happy campers!
December 19
A wee bit chilly early morning but got nice out as the day went on. Small groundswell today seems to have knocked the bite down a notch. Today we got 1/2 limits and the fish were more on the smaller size.
December 18
Swell has finally come down so we’re back out fishing and the fish were happy to see us. Ran out to one of our lucky spots and as soon as we dropped in it was fish on! Non-stop catching for a few hours of both big and medium size blues and olive pacific snapper. Even tossed back 20-30 small ones to grow. Came into the lingcod grounds and tried for an hour with no luck.
December 11
Crab only trip today and what a blast. Swell was still big but our seasoned sea-goers were up to the task. Got out to the crab grounds and got our limits pulse a crew limit then headed back home in calmer seas. Time to cook and freeze the crab for Christmas and New Year’s dinners.
Covid Update
Effective now, and until Covid is under control, we have decided to only offer private charters (no open loads or walk-ons, everyone must be from the same group). We understand we may lose business by adopting this policy but we feel strongly this is necessary to keep our valued Customers and ourselves safe. We all need to do our part in helping stem this virus. This is our part.
December 6
Perfect weather and flat calm water but the ground swell (swell you don’t get on the surface) is making visibility for the fish almost impossible. We got some fish yesterday but could have used more. Six limits plus of crab more than made up for the lack of fish. Very happy group and a real joy to fish with.
December 4
Big ground swell in town which has impacted the catching. We didn’t get many fish today but we got plenty of crab. Swell dissipates early next week.
November 30
Beautiful water today and great crabbing and fishing. Fished first to get our limits of nice olive, blue, canary and red pacific snapper then to the crab grounds. Big crab and plenty of them too. Limits of crab and fish for everyone!
Novemver 29
Nice flat calm water today for our Jurassic crab combo. Started with getting our crab at the crab grounds then out deep for the lingcod. Found no love out deep so headed up to Davenport and got some nice fish. Came closer to port and finished up with limits of BIG blues, olives, browns, coppers and a few red pacific snapper to five pounds!
November 28
Another chilly morning for a local crab combo. Started catching fish as soon as we dropped in for limits plus crew fish of big blues, olives and red pacific snapper to five pounds. Then headed out for crab and even though someone ran our gear we still ended up getting our crab. Nice day and happy 17th birthday Aidan!
November 27
Chilly this morning for our local crab combo trip. Got out to the crab grounds and someone’s been busy pulling our gear and taking our crab. Fortunately they didn’t get them all but it sure does make a lot of extra work for us to get the crab we need. Came in closer for rock fishing and WOW! BIG blues again mixed in with a good grade of olive pacific snapper.
November 23
Great day for a local potluck and crab combo trip. Weather was a little warmer and the seas were a bit more comfortable (for most). Ran through the crab gear then came into shallower water for our rockfish and it was game on! Pretty much non-stop catching. Came home with fish and crab limits for five including some red pacific snapper pushing seven pounds!
November 22
Jurassic Park baby! Ran out to the crab pot farm and got our crabs then headed to the deep for lingcod. First drift we nailed a couple nice lings, the biggest was 18 pounds! Then that was it! Got a few small lings but the lingcod bite died. Fortunately the rockfish bite was good! Came home with limits for six of olive, brown, canary, blue, and red pacific snapper to six pounds! Great day.
November 21
This is as good as it gets! Jurassic crab combo today and the fish were ready for battle. After we got our crab we ran out to the deep and started slaying the lingcod pretty much non-stop with BIG coppers, yellowtail and red pacific snapper mixed in. November 12
Flat calm water again for Jurassic Park. Went to the crab pots farm and got our crabs then out to the deep. As soon as we dropped in our live bait it was fish on! Lingcod started biting good then everything simply shut down. Tried a bunch of different depths and couldn’t get a decent bite going. Great guys and a whole lot of fun.
November 11
Beautiful flat calm water today for our Jurassic Park trip and the fish were biting real good! Caught our live bait then limited out on lingcod. Stayed out deep for the rockfish and got some nice copper, green spot, yellow tail, brown pacific snapper. Then something BIG took a MEGA-Bait. After a lot of tug of war Richard pulled in a 100 pound soupfin shark. Awesome battle and awesome eating too!
November 9
The storm has finally moved out and the weather forecast for the next week at least is perfect for fishing and crabbing! We pulled a crab pot yesterday to check the quality and these crabs are BIG! Should be a great crabbing season. On a sad note, Commercial crabbing has been delayed until at least the beginning of December. Our prayers go out to all the commercial crab fishermen and fisherwomen hoping they get the green light to crab by December 1st. In the meantime recreational crabbing (MEGA-BITE is considered a recreation fishing vessel) is open and will remain open for the remainder of the year.
November 3
Local potluck today and the fish were a wee bit skittish due to the incoming storm this weekend. Took a while and a lot of traveling around to find willing fish. We found ’em! Came home with mixed limits of blue, olive, black and red pacific snapper.

September 26 Morning trip
Jurassic Park trip was not your typical big game safari today. Mixed swell, deep swell, strong current and East wind really made catching difficult. Traveled more than 40 miles trying to get the fish to bite but just couldn’t beat Mother Nature at her own game.
September 25

The water was bigger than usual this afternoon. “The bigger the water the bigger the fish” and 13 year-old Gabe from Pleasanton proved it when he landed two lingcod at the same time on one hook! A smaller blue lingcod took the first bite then an 18 pound monster ate the blue lingcod! Good job Gabe! The fish were thick and coming over the rail non-stop for brief periods. Boccaccio we’re all over us (trash fish full of worms) so we moved to get busy with rockfish. It was game on again with big blues and olives coming over the rail. Decided salmon fishing wasn’t going to produce much so we opted for Jurassic Park and boy are we glad we did! After jigging up sand dabs for bait, headed to the big fish. First drop we got lingcod. After a couple hours of lingcod fishing came in closer to shore to start on the snapper and the fishing was on fire! Best bite we’ve seen yet. Finished up with all four rods with doubles. Great day. 13 yo Michael had his first lingcod and Page caught a beautiful five pound red pacific snapper.

Got our sand dabs for live bait then went to work on getting our lingcod. Nice lingcod to 15 pounds then limits of quality olive, blues, canaries, brown, and red pacific snapper.

Local potluck today and the fish were waiting for us! On our first drop we started pulling in fish one after another non-stop. Limits for all of beautiful olive, blue, copper, brown and red pacific snapper. Happy Birthday Kim!

Salmon trip today. High winds kept us close to Santa Cruz. Trolled all day but no fish to take home.
June 5
Headed out for our first local potluck trip and it was a blast! After one slow drift we switched up our bait and it was game on with doubles of red, olive, blue, canary and brown pacific snapper. Limits plus for our party of four. Reds to four pounds. Real nice quality fish today.

First MEAT RUN of the year today and it was a wild one. Weather was pushing 20mph winds all day which made things a bit more challenging than usual to say the least. Caught our live bait then headed out for lingcod limits then on to rockcod. Rockfish were a bit shy but managed 1/2 limits for all then trolled for salmon. Had a four-way hookup! One nice king salmon, two coho that went back in the water and one no-show. Picked up another shorty salmon that went back too. Fun day!

Another Jurassic Park trip (supposed to be salmon but the salmon fishing is dead right now) today and after catching our live bait headed out to the reef. First drop we had a four way lingcod hookup! Boated three and one no show. Spent the next five hours working on the lingcod and snapper. The boccaccio bite was unlike anything we’ve seen before. We must have landed 20 + boccaccio but only kept the younger ones.

Jurassic Park trip – Our first charter of 2020 and it was perfect. What a blast and what a bite. Started with catching our lingcod bait then headed to the lingcod reef for limits of lingcod plus crew. Then went on for snapper and again the bite was incredible. Big Copper’s! Headed home with limits for all and big smiles (under our masks).

Had to squeeze in one more crab trip for our good friends. Great crab and great fun. Love watching these ongoing fathers and sons trips. See you all in April when fishing season opens back up. Have a great New Year!
December 31
Nice weather today with a sizable swell and lots of happy campers. After getting our crab came in closer to shore and got blues and olive rockfish. Slow bite caused by the new ground swell.
