The albacore fishing has slowed down and they’re farther offshore than a few days ago. Looks like we have to wait for when the warmer water comes back in. Probably 2-3 days from now. The local fishing for halibut has been good. Lingcod and rockcod are picking up too.

July 17
Weather was coming in so we opted to fish local reefs for lingcod and South Rock for the jumbo blues we’ve been getting lately. Ground swell pretty much put the kibosh on lingcod but South Rock kicked out the jumbo blues non-stop! 12yo Jay and 15yo Randy did most of the muscle work and filled the box while proud dad Pete enjoyed the action. Was Jay’s first time on the ocean and he’s a natural! Good work boys!

Even got a nice 33 inch lingcod in the battle. Great time with some really great guys. Happy Father’s Day Jack and Jack Jr. You guys rock!

We managed to pick up some live bait then after motoring to out lucky spot dropped in for lingcod and rockcod. Immediately we started catching rockcod and lings. Came home with a nice cooler of lingcod and rockcod. Water is getting calmer after the storm and things should be picking up even more this week.
May 5
Our first trip out this season for local potluck. With the storm that just passed, winds were big and seas were uncomfortable. Our group worked real hard to get the fish to bite and were able to get a few lingcod and rockcod. Kept two of the lings and the rockcod. Hats off to our active duty Coast Guard AH64 mechanic, Alexa, for landing a beautiful dark blue lingcod. Don’t get to see these very often.
